FashionCampNYC (FCNY), a five-day New York Fashion Camp that explores the world of fashion retail, announced on Monday the introduction of a new summer curriculum.
The weeklong day program, which is based at LIM, provides a well-rounded fashion experience to children ages 12 through 18. The program combines classroom education, field trips and hands-on exercises. This summer, FCNY will focus on the next wave of employment for the new generation, with classes focused on 3D printing and app design.
Each day of the camp is themed and will include topics like “Street Style” and “All About the Brand”. Campers will also visit the fashion technology exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a 3D print factory to learn about fashion design, marketing and PR, and merchandising.
Gordon Josey, co-founder and summer camp veteran, adds "Like any other camp, FCNY combines learning, teamwork, and fun. We choose our leaders carefully to ensure that our campers feel engaged and have fun throughout the summer. We attract campers from all over the world and they build relationships – with other campers and with our faculty – that last a lifetime." Campers are able to network with counselors, administrators, and speakers to cultivate mentorships and on-going communications well beyond camp, that can help launch their careers in fashion.
Founded in 2007, FashionCampNYC has produced talented individuals that have gone on to FIT and Parsons, started blogs, and landed internships and jobs at major brands.
This session will run from July 25th through 29th and from August 1st through 5th. This year’s speakers include 3DIY founder Lauren Slowik, The Wanderlust Girls bloggers Abigail Breslin and Emily Bache, CLO Vice President Deborah Park, and LaForce + Stevens CEO James LaForce among others. Each session costs $1,400.
