Fast Retailing opens Denim Innovation Center in Los Angeles

Fast Retailing on Friday announced the opening of its new Denim Innovation Center in Los Angeles. The facility is devoted to denim research and development to support the company’s denim offering.

 
The Denim Innovation Center is intended to bring together specialists to develop jeans through innovative techniques and materials. The center features the latest equipment for production and can be used by contracted producers as a research center. In addition, the Innovation Center will focus on environmentally friendly processing and production methods.
 
The company is focused on the “3Fs” of jeans production, which are fabric, fit and finish. Fast Retailing has partnered with manufacturers such as Kaihara to ensure that Uniqlo and J Brand jeans surpass the standard.

The first project for specialists will be to research jeans for Uniqlo and J Brand. The products developed for both brands will launch in fall 2017.
