Finalists of the Green Carpet Talent Competition organised by Italian Fashion Chamber announced

The Green Carpet Talent competition (GCT) has announced the five finalists of its second edition. They are Behno, Davide Grillo, Gilberto Calzolari, Wrad and Teatum Jones, five emerging international designers vying for the prize which recognises the best sustainable fashion project. The competition is part of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards Italia 2018, organised by the Italian Fashion Chamber (CNMI) to promote eco-friendly fashion.

The winner of the GCT competition will be announced next September at Milan’s Teatro alla Scala opera house, at the prize-giving ceremony for the Green Carpet Fashion Awards Italia, and will also be included in the calendar of the Milan Fashion Week in February 2019.

Among the finalists, a veteran of Italian haute couture, Gilberto Calzolari. After working for the design studios of Marni, Alberta Ferretti, Valentino, Miu Miu and Giorgio Armani, Calzolari created his own label in 2015. Young designer Davide Grillo, 25, is another of the names on the shortlist. Grillo cut his fashion teeth at Pinko and Dolce & Gabbana, before launching his own label.

The jury panel includes eminent fashion industry names like Kelly Wong (Lane Crawford), Natalie Kingham (Buying Director at Matchesfashion.com), Derek Blasberg (CNN Style) and Ellie Goulding (pop singer and goodwill ambassador for the UN Foundation).

The five designers’ collections will also be featured at The Creative Spot, a platform showcasing new talents at the Fidenza Village outlet mall, just outside Milan.
 
Also, all the five finalists of the GCT competition (which is supported by The Bicester Village Shopping Collection by Value Retail), including the winner of the Franca Sozzani GCC Emerging Designer prize, will participate in The Bicester Village Shopping Collection 12-month mentorship programme.
