Who knew Toronto Fashion Week could taste so good?
New to this season of Toronto Fashion Week, Canadian fashion designers are teaming up with restaurants and bars in Bloor-Yorkville to create unique dishes and cocktails inspired by the designers’ collections.
Dubbed Style Plate, the community initiative will hit 11 select restaurants from Tuesday September 4 to Thursday September 6, during the city’s fashion week.
Among the participating restaurants and designers, style will meet dining at Cibo Wine Bar, where a dish and cocktail inspired by Hendrixroe’s upcoming collection, expected to be enthused with glam rocker couture, will be created.
Chef Mark McEwen’s One Restaurant will bring together Canadian and Italian influences, notably PEI Beef Carpaccio and a Rossetto Martini, inspired by designer Christopher Bates’ time at the Istituto Marangoni in Milan.
Meanwhile, the mixologists at Amber will be offering a cocktail spritzer that echoes the bright and bold colours of the Montreal duo behind Wrkdept, while Sassafraz’s mixologists will equally be wiping up a vibrant drink inspired by Zoff’s upcoming collection described by the words “The Fire Within”.
Moreover, restaurant Sofia will offer the The Lobster Lena inspired by the intricate details found in Narces designs, and Oxley Public House will take notes from Namesake’s affluent and edgy design, to create Beet Cured Acadian Sturgeon and the Shantay, You Stay! Cocktail.
Other designer-restaurant pairings include restaurant STK with Victoria Hayes, Café Nervosa inspired by Hilary MacMillan, Bar Reyna teamed up with Christopher Paunil, Planta channeling eco-friendly denim brand, Triarchy, and finally Kasa Moto with Tara Rivas.
Toronto Fashion Week will take place in Yorkville Village where over a dozen designers are expected to hit the Toronto Fashion Week stage to showcase their Spring/Summer 2019 collections.
