Frank And Oak recommits to 2022 sustainability goals

Canadian clothing brand Frank And Oak has announced its latest sustainability goals for 2022.

To meet the brand’s 2022 objectives, it is recommitting to selecting better materials, better factories and better shipping methods to maximize the reduction of their carbon emissions.

It previously shared plans to remove virgin plastic and polyester from their supply chain. To get there, it will remove all excess packaging and maximize the use of recycled raw materials, thereby cutting the use of virgin plastic to zero. Additionally, it will strive to use only 100 percent recycled polyester fibres.

It also aims to implement more carbon offset programs and switching to renewable energy sources starting at its warehouses, stores, and other facilities.

Currently, to ensure their clothing is good for their customers and the environment, it relies on sustainable materials such as hemp, post-consumer recycled cotton, ethically sourced yak wool, and kapok. All the while, the creative team at Frank And Oak has found ways to reduce packaging to a minimum.

Frank And Oak first received its B-Corp certification in September 2019 with the goal to provide accessible products that are good for the planet.

Founded in 2012, Frank And Oak launched as an e-commerce-only brand for men. The company has since expanded into brick-and-mortar, as well as into womenswear with the launch of its first women’s collection in fall 2016.

Most recently, in October 2020, Unified Commerce Group, purchased the Montreal-based brand following a bankruptcy filing. Before filing for bankruptcy last June, Frank and Oak had operated 22 stores, but has since cut that number to 11.
