Garrett Leight California Optical on Wednesday announced the opening of its newest retail location on Hayes Street in San Francisco.
The 1,000-square-foot store is reminiscent of the brand’s flagship store on La Brea in Los Angeles in that the interior features minimalist white surfaces and natural wood. The store also has bench seating, custom multi-dimensional shelving, colorful succulents and photography that tie the brand to the neighborhood.
"San Francisco was a natural succession for the GLCO expansion. The California coastline comprises the Garrett Leight California Optical DNA and the culture of Northern California has been a source of inspiration,” explains founder Garrett Leight.
To celebrate the store opening, GLCO created a limited edition Allen Ginsburg inspired frame that pays homage to San Francisco’s cultural renaissance. The acetate frame is made entirely in San Francisco and is available in five color combinations. Only 50 frames will be available in store and online.
Garrett Leight founded his namesake brand, Garrett Leight California Optical, in 2011 and today his optical and sunglass styles are carried at retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, Mr. Porter, and SSENSE among others, as well as the brand’s flagship store in Los Angeles.
