New research by the OECD shows just how pronounced the pay gap between men and women in the developed world still is.
According to the study, the gender pay gap – defined as the difference between male and female earnings as a percentage of male earnings – is most prominent in two developed countries in Asia.
In South Korea, the average full-time working male will earn nearly 37 percent more than their female colleagues. In Japan, the gap is just under 27 percent.
In North America, The United States still has an 18 percent pay gap to try and reduce, while Canada has even more work to do with a 19 percent discrepancy.
New Zealand has the smallest pay gap, but men still out earn women by 5.6 percent
