Giorgio Armani promotes Giuseppe Marsocci, Daniele Ballestrazzi to deputy GM roles

Giorgio Armani is more than ever on the front line in controlling and managing his fashion empire. The couturier is officially the CEO and general manager of the Armani group, and has now picked two of his close collaborators, Giuseppe Marsocci and Daniele Ballestrazzi, to help him run the business as deputy general managers. The first takes charge of sales and marketing, the second of finance and operations.

The new appointments took place in the wake of the departure at the end of March of General Manager Livio Proli, one of the latest top executives to leave the Armani group. Andrea Camerana, Giorgio Armani’s nephew and once earmarked as the couturier's heir, left in 2014, while Giorgio Armani's right-hand man John Hooks left in 2011.

In March, Armani told FashionNetwork.com that Proli would not be replaced, and his role would be split between different managers within the group. The choice fell on Giuseppe Marsocci and Daniele Ballestrazzi, who have been with Armani respectively for 16 and 12 years.

Marsocci has spent virtually his entire career with the Italian luxury label, in various executive roles. In 2015, he took charge of the label’s US subsidiary, Giorgio Armani Corporation, replacing Graziano De Boni.

Ballestrazzi joined the Armani group in 2007, after a stint at Gianni Versace, as the chief financial officer of Armani’s US subsidiary. He has been in charge of the group’s financial and operations management since 2015.
