Givenchy unveils Clare Waight Keller's collections at NYC flagship

Givenchy chose its Madison Avenue store in New York City to unveil new artistic director Clare Waight Keller's first collection for the French fashion house in the US. Similar reveals occurred in Paris and Milan.

The Spring/Summer 2018 collection, including men's and women's ready-to-wear and accessories, was exclusively unveiled this morning at the New York flagship, three weeks before the global launch date of the collection. This season, which heralds Clare Waight Keller's debut collection for the house, revealed new takes on classics, such as the GV3 handbag.

To celebrate the unveiling of the new collection, the Madison Avenue flagship windows told the story of Givenchy's historic Couture building in Paris. Wrought-iron gate details played off of decorative touches which set the tone for the new season.

The concept was to create a traditional Givenchy "home" for the new artistic director's collection. "Traditional moldings adorn walls painted in a flattering shade of soft ivory, while plant arrangements suspended from the ceiling and antique rugs delineating intimate lounge areas lend warmth to flooring in parquet and burnished concrete," Givenchy announced.

The official statement from the house described how "History and heritage blend to embrace different beauties and a poetic mood, sometimes with a romantic air, and at others with the rock-inflected attitude that informs Clare Waight Keller's vocabulary for the house."

Givenchy's Spring/Summer 2018 collection will officially launch March 5th. It will be available both in store and online.
