Coinciding with the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid on Friday, September 14, Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida conducted a presentation at the Ifema exhibition center in Madrid, unveiling the fresh features of its upcoming edition. Scheduled from October 5 to 7, this event will return to its customary venue, Expomeloneras in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria.

Dedicated to the proposals for the Spring/Summer 2024 season, this edition will showcase the creations of 33 designers and brands, one more than in the previous edition. These participants hail from diverse origins: 10 are from the Canary Islands, with eight from Gran Canaria and two from La Palma, five represent mainland Spain, and 11 come from various international locations. Notably, the event will introduce seven new and emerging designers, marking a significant increase of three additional talents compared to the previous edition.

Among the confirmed designers are renowned Spanish creators such as Aurelia Gil, Elena Morales, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, and Dolores Cortés. Newcomers to the event include Spanish brands Monnur and Gisela. Local Canary Island designers will also be featured, including Aurelia Gil, Elena Morales, Pedro Palmas, Chela Clo, Carlos San Juan, and Arcadio Domínguez.

This edition will also highlight the participation of international brands, with the return of designers like Melissa Odabash, Alexandra Miró, Edelvissa, Miss Bikini, and Gottex. New international additions to the lineup include French brands Pain de Sucre, DnuD, and Cala 1789.

During the press conference, Minerva Alonso, the Industry, Commerce, and Crafts Counselor of the Gran Canaria Island Council, expressed gratitude for Ifema's involvement, emphasizing its significant role in elevating the fashion platform. She also acknowledged the collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and ACME, as well as the participation of international and national brands. All of these, combined with the efforts of local designers and the dedicated team, "have transformed the runway into a leading hub for European swimwear fashion, showcasing our island and setting an exemplary standard in sustainability," as stated by Alonso.

Arancha Priede, business director at Ifema Madrid, commented on the enduring partnership with the Gran Canaria Island council: "For the past five years, we have worked closely with a strong commitment to drive the internationalization and professionalization of the runway event. It has consistently solidified its position as a premier European destination for swimwear fashion." This marks the sixth consecutive year of collaboration between these institutions, further advancing the professionalization and international reach of the event.
