Groupe Dynamite CEO named Distinguished Canadian Retailer of the Year

The Retail Council of Canada (RCC) announced on Tuesday that Andrew Lutfy, CEO of Groupe Dynamite Inc., will be the recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Canadian Retailer of the Year Award. 
 
In a news statement, Diane J. Brisebois, President & CEO of the Retail Council of Canada says the “RCC is thrilled to recognize Andrew Lutfy for his passion, his leadership, and his ability to embrace change in today's retail landscape."

 
Lutfy first joined Groupe Dynamite in 1982 as a stock clerk. He moved up in the company and became its sole owner by 2002.
 
Groupe Dynamite brands include Garage and Dynamite, which operate close to 400 locations in Canada, the US and the Middle East.

Past recipients of the Distinguished Retailer of the Year Award include Leon's, Harry Rosen, Canadian Tire Corporation and Aritzia.
 
The award will be presented to Lutfy at the Excellence in Retailing Awards Gala on May 31, 2016. The gala will take place at the Toronto Congress Centre.
