The ready-to-wear brand has branched out into the world of environmentally responsible fashion with a first capsule collection made from sustainable denim for the spring/summer 2016 season.

Although Guess isn't the first ready-to-wear label to launch an eco-friendly denim range, the brand still hits hard this spring with a first capsule collection combining responsible fashion with its signature casual, sexy style in a range of pieces for all the family.

Guess has covered all bases for this first range, with each stage of the production process specially tailored to reduce the brand's environmental impact, from manufacturing techniques and fabric choices to materials for embellishments. Plus, the label guarantees identical levels of performance to the denim used in other collections.

Reducing water use and greenhouse gas emissions

Guess has notably sought to reduce its environmental impact by changing the procedures for treating and finishing denim. This sustainable collection uses a process that saves significant amounts of water and energy, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The brand's eco denim is also colored with water-based dyes and finished with chemical products that have low environmental footprints.

Garments in this first sustainable capsule are made from organic cotton, with details and embellishments ensuring low environmental impacts. Leather labels are certified by OekoTex, for example, while buttons and rivets are finished with a "Low Impact Finish Ensemble" (LIFE) treatment.

The "#GuessEco" capsule collection includes designs for women, men and children, such as cropped leggings, dungarees, skinny jeans and other key pieces from the brand.

Guess joins several other fashion brands that have already launched eco conscious ranges. Retailer H&M has several sustainable collections, including a denim line made from collected and recycled clothing while G-Star and Pharrell Williams teamed up for a responsible denim line.
