H&M plans U.S online store launch for August
Jul 18, 2013
Swedish retail giant H&M took to Twitter recently to confirm the launch of its U.S online store in August. H&M has already established online retail platforms in the United Kingdom, Germany, Scandinavia, Austria and the Netherlands.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the retailer originally had plans to launch its online store in autumn 2012 but postponed as the company struggled to create a “seamless shopping experience” for its clients due to large sales volumes. A challenge made all the more difficult by differing sales taxes in each state.
H&M counts 268 physical stores in the United States and, in 2012, the American market generated 1.4 billion euros in sales for the company. The U.S currently represents H&M’s second largest market after Germany.
