HanesBrands on Monday announced a leadership succession plan that has been approved by the Board of Directors. HanesBrands Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard A. Noll will narrow his role to Executive Chairman and Chief Operating Officer Gerald W. Evans Jr. will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer, both effective October 1, 2016.
Noll and Evans have each held leadership positions at Hanes spanning over 30 years. The transition is expected to be seamless as a result of the Board’s continuous leadership succession planning.
Noll served as the CEO of HanesBrands since 2005 and he served as Chairman since January 2009. Evans joined HanesBrand in 1983, and he was appointed to Chief Operating Officer in 2013.
In addition to the appointment to CEO, Evans has been appointed to the Board of Directors, effective immediately. His addition expands the Board to 11 members.
