Hedi Slimane to stage exclusive Celine menswear show in January

Celine is planning an exclusive menswear show in January in Paris, in the latest strategic move at the fashion house by Creative Director Hedi Slimane.

The show will mark the first exclusively menswear collection by Hedi Slimane in three years.
 
The decision appears to underline the immediate success the house has had with retailers with its debut menswear collection by Slimane. The designer unveiled Celine's first ever menswear collection in late September along with his debut Celine women's wear collection in a co-ed show staged in a tent under Napoleon Bonaparte's tomb.

Staging a single-sex menswear runway show is an important statement by the house. A full independent menswear collection, separate from the house's women’s show, indicates that Celine has already gained momentum as a go-to menswear brand.
 
Slimane's most recent exclusive menswear show for Saint Laurent was Spring 2016. Though Hedi did show some new menswear looks at a final joint Saint Laurent show staged in the Palladium in LA in February 2016.
 
At YSL, Slimane often mixed men and women together during the menswear season shows.  However, his men's show for Celine next January will probably be purely menswear looks.
 
The house confirmed that it is in talks with the Federation de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, French fashion's governing body, to nail down an exact slot on the official runway calendar.
 
The next menswear season in Paris is scheduled for between Tuesday, January 15 to Sunday, January 20, 2019.
 
However, Celine was unable to provide an exact date of the show, and location, as it negotiates with the Federation.
 
Slimane's return to the menswear season will mean his show for Celine will be the most keenly anticipated of the international menswear season.
 
The house made available two exclusive looks to FashionNetwork.com, shot by Slimane, of his debut men`s ideas. They are part of the designer's menswear campaign for Celine, which will be begin rolling out step by step in print and digital media worldwide, starting next week.
 
But the real action will be next January when Slimane, the most important men's tailor in high fashion this century makes stages his pure menswear show.
