Architizer announced the nominees for it’s A+ Awards. The A+ Awards are the largest awards program focused on promoting and celebrating the year’s best architecture and products. This year’s Retail nominees include the Helmut Lang concept store in West Hollywood and Feit West Village in New York City.

Los Angeles-based architecture firm, Standard Architecture, designed the Helmut Lang West Hollywood concept store. The 3,000-square-foot space on Melrose is a grey loft-like space with smooth troweled plaster walls, concrete floors, with accents of stainless steel and black, charcoaled wood, warm LED fixtures and natural light. A new courtyard was made in the back the shop to reference the modern architecture of Los Angeles and Palm Springs.
Feit West Village also opened in 2015 and is highly regarded for its in-store installation by Jordana Maisie Design Studio. Installation Two: Volume and Void features geometric shapes that incorporate a timber palette with carvings that open up sightlines between the store and the street. Each shape was CNC cut; hand sanded and assembled offsite. Maisie also designed the brand’s Prince Street store, the first from the brand to open in New York City.
The A+ Awards are divided by category with five nominations in each category. Feit and Helmut Lang are nominated in the Retail category, as well as Apple Store, Stanford in Palo Alto, Target Open House in San Francisco and Unilux in Beirut.
A jury selected the nominees, and the public can vote for the winners through April 1, 2016. The winners will be announced on April 12, 2016.
