Holt Renfrew unveils new beauty hall in Toronto
Mar 28, 2019
Canadian luxury retailer Holt Renfrew unveiled this month a new 12,000-square-foot Beauty Hall on the concourse level of its 50 Bloor Street West flagship.
Focused on skincare and fragrance, the department designed by Kramer Design Group with master architects, Gensler, houses 45 skincare, fragrance and colour brands including key beauty shops like La Prairie, Sisley, La Mer, and Chantecaille, as well as new brands Sulwhasoo and Susanne Kaufmann. Many of the brands have their own dedicated areas on the floor.
In addition to new vendor shops, the Beauty Hall is also home to new interactive spaces such as a dedicated clean beauty area, a multi-skincare area experience that will also serve as a master class event space, two
Holt Renfrew skincare cabines, a fragrance library and more.
Holt Renfrew’s beauty offering will be complete later this year with the renovation of the beauty and colour space on the main floor.
Other upcoming updates at 50 Bloor Street West will include a new women’s leather goods and jewellery area to be completed later this year; new vendor shops from Celine, Prada, Dior, Balenciaga; and a new dining experience in the new Colette Grand café that will relaunch this fall. Renovations at Holt Renfrew 50 Bloor Street are scheduled to be completed in 2020.
The changes are all part of Holt Renfrew’s $400 million investment plan to revitalise and enhance its network of stores across Canada.
First announced in June, the investment also includes enhancements at Holt Renfrew Ogilvy in Montreal, as well as significant renovations at Toronto's 50 Bloor Street West flagship store and at Toronto's Yorkdale location.
Holt Renfrew, which was once commonly referred to as the “Barneys of Canada”,
has faced increased competition in Canada’s luxury market in recent years due to the entry of American retailers.
Luxury retailer Nordstrom entered the country in September of 2014, with its first store at CF Chinook Centre in Calgary. Not long after, fellow luxury fashion retailer Saks Fifth Avenue followed suit, opening its first two Canadian stores in February 2016.
