Honey Birdette works with Ellen von Unwerth for new campaign

PLBY-owned luxury lingerie brand Honey Birdette has linked with fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth again for its latest seasonal campaign, titled ‘On the Run’.

Shot in the desert at Joshua Tree, the high-spring campaign “rides through the desert in 1960s muscle cars” and sees the brand “revisiting its rock ‘n’ roll roots”.

The brand’s image is very much linked to assertive female sexuality and this is embraced in the imagery that channels the femme fatale in strappy bondage-style pieces and ready to wear such as a black embossed leatherette dress, a matching corset, and satin pant sets.

The campaign comes just weeks after the brand was the subject of a negative publicity onslaught by those who disagreed with it sharing an image of burlesque performer and model Jake Dupree wearing its products.

In a statement responding to this, it said: “We will continue to use our voice to empower and support the LGBTQ+ community, women and anyone who wants to feel fabulous in our lingerie."

The label also recently unveiled its first basics collection. Called  Nakeds, it features more wearable pieces for everyday living, at more affordable price points.
