Indochino looks to Australia amid North American growth

Published
Apr 30, 2019

Indochino is making moves overseas with its first launch outside of North America, bringing its online operations to Australia.

Australian customers can now purchase from the brand’s website in their local currency, benefit from duty free shipping, and full support services - Indochino

The move will pave the groundwork for future retail expansion in the country as the Canadian made-to-measure men’s apparel company begins to focus on international growth.

"As a former resident of Sydney, I'm thrilled to bring Indochino clothing to Australian shores, as the country and its people hold a special place in my heart," said Drew Green, President and CEO of Indochino, in a news statement.

"We were the original brand to reinvent how men shop—beginning with made to measure suits and now offering a wide assortment of custom clothing—all delivered in an industry-leading two weeks. Now, we're ready to shake up the way Aussie men get dressed, each and every day."

Australian customers can now purchase from the brand’s website in their local currency, benefit from duty free shipping, and full support services.

Meanwhile, Indochino is continuing to expand rapidly across North America. It announced last week the opening of three new showrooms in the Tri-state area including its 44th showroom in Greenwich, Connecticut, which opened on Friday.

It equally announced the opening of a new showroom in Paramus, New Jersey - expected to open this summer - and in Manhasset, New York, which is slated for early 2020.

Other showrooms scheduled to open this year include Bellevue in Washington and three stores in California including in Roseville, Melrose, and San Diego.

"As we continue to see success developing the Indochino brand in the North East, we're committed to extending our retail network outside of Manhattan – where we have three thriving locations – to areas where many more Americans live, work, and play," said Green.

"This will give men of all communities and professions greater access to exceptionally priced custom clothing."

Finally, to complement its commitment to the Tri-state, the retailer has also renewed its partnership as the Official Made to Measure Brand of the New York Yankees for a second year. The partnership will be activated with in-stadium signage and special events as well as via digital and social channels.

The Vancouver-based menswear company launched in 2007 as an online retailer before opening its first permanent bricks-and-mortar location in 2014, in Vancouver. Indochino ended 2018 with 38 showrooms and expects to grow by more than a third in 2019.

Besides expanding its retail presence, the retailer has also been growing its product offering with the launch of business-casual pants and overcoats in October and most recently, new casual button-up shirts.
