Long-established Italian fashion group Blufin, founded in 1977 by Giampaolo Tarabini and now led by his son Gianguido, has announced the launch of a new womenswear label, Be Blumarine, to replace Blugirl.

Be Blumarine is designed by Mirko Fontana and Diego Marquez, the creative duo behind the Au Jour Le Jour womenswear label. With Be Blumarine, Blufin aims to broaden its range with a contemporary brand targeting women aged between 25 and 50, priced affordably at about 20/30% below Blugirl.

“Be Blumarine was created to respond to the needs of a constantly evolving market, increasingly sensitive to accessible, innovative brands, and always on the look-out for unique, vibrant contemporary products at affordable prices,” said Gianguido Tarabini, CEO of the Blufin group.

Be Blumarine will debut with the Autumn/Winter 2019-20 season and will be presented at Milano Moda Uomo next January, though a pre-fall 2019 collection will be available at Blufin’s Milan showroom from mid-November.

The line will be distributed by a direct sales force in Italy and by wholesalers elsewhere, especially in France, Spain, the USA and Asia. The Blugirl monobrand stores, which are mostly franchised, will gradually change their name to Be Blumarine.

In 2017, Blufin generated a revenue of €70 million.
