Italian fashion strengthens ties with Korea

Italy and South Korea are strengthening their fashion industry. The Italian Camera Nazionale della La Moda has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Fashion Association and Kotra (Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency), it announced in a statement.

The agreement aims to "promote cooperation between the two fashion organizations by facilitating trade relations between the both countries through the exchange of useful information in order to promote strategic investments and expand business.”

Indeed, in the context of the partnership, the Chamber of Italian Fashion has welcomed Korean designers who have showed during its Fashion Weeks for the past several seasons.

The agreement was signed on October 16 during celebrations of 130 years of diplomatic relations between both countries. A celebration in Milan saw three young designers representing both nations show their collection: the Italian duo Tommaso Anfossi and Lorenzo Ferrari from the label CO | TE, the Korean designer Rick Lee, who works in Italy and his compatriot Lee Jean Youn, who is based in New York.

"Korea is strategically an important country for made in Italy. Our footwear and leatherwear sales have increased in the market by 16% in the first six months of year," said Camera della Moda president Mario Boselli.
