John Hardy opens Las Vegas boutique, reveals more openings globally
May 31, 2019
Jewelry brand John Hardy has opened a new boutique in Las Vegas as part of a continued brick-and-mortar expansion.
Located in The Forum Shops at Caesars at 3500 S Las Vegas Boulevard, the 1,200 square-foot boutique carries a range of the brand’s handcrafted jewelry inspired by Bali. In addition, John Hardy's Artisan in Residence Program will be at the front of the store, featuring an artisan workbench with live jewelry making demonstrations.
Inside, the store presents a bespoke sculpture made by artist Aaron Taylor Kuffner. The piece, titled 'Gamelatron Perhiasan Emas di Awan Hitam (Gamelatron Golden Jewels in a Black Cloud)', combines elements of Indonesia's historic Gamelan music tradition with modern robotics, and produces original compositions written specifically for the boutique.
As part of the brand’s efforts to support artisan communities, the Las Vegas boutique is the first John Hardy location to carry Balinese homewares. The category is a curated collection of unique Balinese artifacts and contemporary designs, the brand said, including vases and bowls from Gaya Ceramics and heirloom-quality textiles from fair-trade business Threads of Life.
The brand will also collaborate with New York-based Guesst, a retail technology platform that connects brands with design artists, for the boutique's lounge furniture. As part of the partnership, John Hardy customers will be able to purchase artisan partner goods directly in-store via Guesst's point-of-sale interface.
The Las Vegas store advances the “commercial expansion that John Hardy has forged over the past two years, both domestically and globally,” said Robert Hanson, John Hardy chairman.
“In addition to our Las Vegas boutique, we recently expanded to Western Europe with a pop-up in partnership with Galeries Lafayette in Paris, and also have launched in Korea through a partnership with Shinsegae International.”
Following the Las Vegas opening, John Hardy plans to open new boutiques at Pennsylvania’s King of Prussia - one of the largest shopping malls in the United States - premium outlet mall Sawgrass Mills in Florida, and a fourth Bali retail location in Seminyak in the fall of 2019.
