Jos. A. Bank reopens Madison Avenue flagship with rebranded face

Published
Mar 12, 2019

Tailored Brands subsidiary Jos. A. Bank's New York City flagship is back in business with a fresh new look, following renovations designed to reflect the new face of the men's retailer.

The flagship's reopening coincides with the launch of Jos. A. Bank's new “Get Ready for Greatness” brand campaign, the next step in the retailer's foray into brand advertisements. - Via Jos. A. Bank

First opened in 1994 and then temporarily shuttered in June, the 13,800 square-foot, two-story location on Madison Avenue and 46th Street plays host to two dedicated custom shops, where shoppers can access one-on-one assistance while creating customized suits, sport coats and dress shirts. A spacious lounge for custom and formalwear fittings can be found on the mezzanine, as well as a glass-enclosed tailor shop where shoppers can watch tailors in action.

Inside, the store decor includes both custom furniture and fixtures in a range of wood, marbled stone, brushed copper and antiqued mirrors, in addition to wall coverings and rugs decorated with shields. There's also a map of Baltimore - Jos. A. Bank's founding city - meant to reflect the label's heritage, alongside two full-feature video walls, representing the brand's expansion into digital.

“We wanted our flagship store in New York to represent a unique space as iconic as Madison Avenue,” said Mary Beth Blake, brand president, Jos. A. Bank.

“Everything that Jos. A. Bank stands for - quality craftsmanship, heritage and comfort - is incorporated into the look and feel of this location.”

The flagship's reopening coincides with the launch of Jos. A. Bank's new “Get Ready for Greatness” brand campaign, the latest in the retailer's relatively new foray into brand advertisements. The campaign follows Jos. A. Bank's first branded advertisement launched in 2017, called “Modern Man,” as well as its first brand campaign and creative platform, dubbed “The Bank Way."

Previously, the retailer's advertising was exclusively driven by promotions and sales.

Established in 1905, Jos. A. Bank was purchased by Tailored Brands - then Men's Warehouse - back in 2014.
