American bridal brand Justin Alexander has launched a new wholesale channel in Mexico, as well as an ambitious strategy to expand the brand in this market.

In an interview with FashionNetwork.com, Michael Duhoux, who joined the company last year to lead the expansion in Mexico, said that Justin Alexander had its first talks with potential Mexican clients at the last edition of trade show Intermoda, held in January in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The wholesale launch in June will build on the brand’s retail presence in the country, where it operates 25 concessions in multi-brand stores in Monterrey, Chihuahua, Guadalajara and Mexico City.

In terms of growth, Duhoux, who leads the company from its offices in Mexico City, said a target for the year is to have 35 to 40 stores across the country, and grow “step by step” by establishing a warehouse in Guadalajara and a subsidiary.

Founded in 1946 in New York by Justin Alexander, the bridal company owns four brands, including Justin Alexander, Signature, Lillian West, Sincerity Bridal and Sweetheart Gowns. According to the company’s website, its North American headquarters are located in New York, and its European base is in Rotterdam. It has also offices in New York, London and Hong Kong. The brand is currently stocked in over 1,500 retailers worldwide.

Michael Duhoux is a graduate from the University of Barcelona and Ices. Before joining Justin Alexander, he worked for Rosa Clará as manager for the UK, Ireland, Czech Republic and Slovakia, as well as in Pronovias as multichannel sales director for the Benelux region and France.
