Canadian outerwear brand Kanuk launched on Thursday a limited-edition collection created with Montreal-based collaborative design studio JJJJound.

As part of the partnership, Kanuk’s iconic heritage jacket - the Otarie - was reimagined by JJJJound with a modern spin where pattern makers brought in the shoulders and tweaked the collar shape by bringing down the collar.

Dubbed the 'JJJJound Heritage Otarie Jacket', it was created with deadstock fabrics leftover from previous years. Matching its modernized fit, they created three versions in navy, brown, and beige.

“As a Montreal-based company, it was exciting for us to work with a local heritage brand like Kanuk, who’s been a staple of the Canadian winter since our childhood,” said Justin Saunders, JJJJound founder, in a news statement.

Accompanying the limited-edition collection is a campaign shot in the JJJJound warehouse that features a mix of interesting Canadians from Quebec and Ontario.

The JJJJound Heritage Otarie Jacket is available in men’s’ sizes ranging from S to XL. It retails for $800 CAD and will be available exclusively on jjjjound.com, as of December 5 and in Kanuk stores as of December 12.
