Kering fourth in Newsweek’s Global 500 Green Rankings and first in its sector

Kering has a lot to be proud of. The French luxury group came in fourth in Newsweek’s Green Rankings, which covers the 500 most environmentally sensitive companies in the world.

What’s more, it also ranked first in the Consumer Discretionary sector, a category including companies that sell non-essential goods and services. Perhaps it’s worth noting that, out the top ten 500, the number-one spot when to another French company: Vivendi. Kering was the only company of its kind to crack the top 10.

As for the rest of the pack, Dior ended up at 15, Adidas at 17, Nike at 21, Richemont at 33, L'Oréal at 35, Unibail-Rodamco at 35, Carrefour at 51, and LVMH at 75. The two major global competitors in fast-fashion, Inditex and H&M were respectively at 91 and 95.

The result of research conducted by Corporate Knights Capital, the list ranks the top 500 largest publicly traded companies in the world based on their overall environmental impact. Among the eight indicators are energy productivity, greenhouse gas emissions, water and waste, sustainability pay link and board committee, etc.
