Kingpins Transformers becomes Transformers Foundation

Published
Feb 19, 2020

Kingpins Transformers, the summit series dedicated to exploring ethical solutions in the denim industry, has evolved into the Transformers Foundation, a non-profit entity, effective January 1, 2020.

Kingpins Transformers

Launched by the Kingpins denim trade show in 2014, Kingpins Transformers has held events in Amsterdam and New York, spotlighting members of the denim community who are finding ways to make their industry more efficient environmentally, socially and financially. In addition, Transformers has also hosted 'Kingpins Transformers: Ed,' a similarly ethics-focused educational conference held exclusively for fashion students.

Now, as a non-profit, the Transformers Foundation will focus on "actively addressing and facilitating change in key areas of the denim supply chain: social responsibility, sustainable cotton, responsible chemical management and consumer education," the organization said.

To push its initiatives forward, the foundation has asked supply chain industry leaders to join as founding members and plan activities in 2020 and 2021.

“The jeanswear industry is an energetic, tenacious and connected community that not only agrees sustainability is vital, but has been working and investing in solutions for years,” said Transformers Foundation founder, Andrew Olah.

“We represent about $70 billion in manufacturing revenue, and by collaborating we will make a colossal difference.”

In addition to its new non-profit goals, the Transformers Foundation will continue to host and broadcast Transformers summits for industry professionals and students.

More information about the foundation will be released on February 20, when it will be the focus of the United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) and Lenzing’s webinar series.
