Kingpins Spring/Summer 2020 edition to focus on the future of the denim industry

On 23 October, denim tradeshow Kingpins will be kicking off its Amsterdam Spring/Summer 2020 edition. This season’s edition will be focusing on innovation and the future of the denim industry.

The trade event consists of a transformers summit on the opening day and the Kingpins Amsterdam show, which will be held on 24 and 25 October.

The transformers summit will feature sustainable fashion innovators working in the denim supply chain. This year’s keynote speaker is G-Star Raw’s Adriana Galijasevic. Roian Atwood of Lee and Wrangler; Tricia Carey of Lenzing; Danielle Statham of FibreTrace; Mark W. O'Neill of Inspectorio; and Ralph Tharpe of IndigoZero are also scheduled to speak at the summit, which takes place for the first time at the Zuidas business district’s Circl building, a recently launched construction using the principles of circularity and sustainability.

At the Kingpins Amsterdam show, which will be held at the Westergasfabriek, international exhibitors will be showing their Spring/Summer 2020 collections as well as the latest innovations. The following companies will be present: Artistic Denim Mills, Pakistan; Denim Authority Tunisia, Tunisia; Pizarro Wiser, Portugal; and YKK, Japan, to name a few. There will also be spaces dedicated to Japanese, and to Taiwanese, exhibitors.

In addition to the exhibitors, the trade show will also host seminars, including ‘100 Years of Women’s Garments at Levi Strauss & Co. presented by Tracey Panek, historian at Levi Strauss.

Andrew Olah, founder of Kingpins Show and Kingpins Transformers, said about the upcoming events: “The future of the denim industry and the environment in general is top of mind these days. 2020 is a symbolic year for those of us who wish to see progress and change for the garment industry -- and an important marker for us to take stock of where we are at, collectively. Kingpins is focused on pushing the denim industry to be more environmentally sustainable.”

Kingpins launched in 2004 and produces biannual shows in New York and Amsterdam, as well as annual shows in Hong Kong and China.
