Kitross, the Los Angeles concept store from Kitson founder Fraser Ross, opened this month a dedicated children’s boutique Kitross Kids just across the street on Robertson Blvd.
The 2,500-square-foot boutique was built in 10 days and features the Kitross children’s offering that was previously at the retailer’s 115 Robertson Blvd. location, as well as fixtures that were owned by the previous tenant. Ross shared that moving the children’s products to the new location allowed for the retailer to expand its men’s and women’s offering.
Ross launched the Kitross concept in 2016 after shutting down his Kitson store chain. Kitson opened its first store in 2000 and operated 17 retail locations in California, Nevada and Oregon. The retailer received a $15 million credit line in 2013 to refinance its debts, but it did not succeed.
Kitson launched a “going out of business” sale in late 2015, with discounts as high as 70% off, and months later Kitross opened on Robertson Blvd.
Ross said that he wants his new retail concept to be the Los Angeles equivalent of Colette in Paris, in terms of being a popular shopping destination, and he has not decided whether to launch a full e-commerce. The retailer currently operates an online site with Shopify.
