Budding make-up tycoon Kylie Jenner and her namesake "Lip Kits" have raised over half a million dollars for charity. The sales of a limited edition Kylie Cosmetics "Lip Kit" will fund over 1,800 surgeries for the Smile Train charity.
Jenner first launched a pale pink hue, dubbed “Smile” in honor of Smile Train, back in October. Due to the popularity of the limited edition shade, Kylie Cosmetics released a second run of the "Smiles" shade this month. 100% of the proceeds from both runs' sales of the kit will go towards towards the charity, which works to provide cleft lip and palette surgeries to children who can't afford them.
Susannah Schaefer, CEO of Smile Train, told People Magazine “Smile Train has been aware of Kylie’s generous heart and her commitment to helping children through her #IAmMoreThan social media campaign and her many visits to children’s hospitals. It’s the perfect synergy because Smile Train’s core vision is to help children with clefts not only receive new smiles, but also build confidence. There’s nothing more powerful than a smile.”
The first run of the $29 lip kit, which consists of a pencil lip liner and a liquid lipstick, launched in October, raised $159,000. The second run, that just finished selling out in stores, brought the grand total of funds raised for Smile Train up to $500,000.
