L'Oréal Paris announces 2020 Women of Worth recipients

L'Oréal Paris announced on Friday the recipients of its Canadian Women of Worth program.

The Canadian grant program was first announced in September 2016 and recognizes women who make a difference in their communities by giving back.

Ten women have been selected and will receive a $10,000 grant for their charity at an Awards Gala on March 8 (International Women’s Day). One of the 10 Women of Worth Honourees will also be selected as the National Honouree and will be awarded an additional $10,000 grant for her charity at the Awards Gala.

The nominees were judged on four distinct criteria: addressing a crucial need in the community; the impact their inspiring contributions have made; their innovation on developing solutions; and their passion to evoke change and inspire future generations.

“These exceptional women selflessly and tirelessly strive for and champion change; lifting up their communities and bringing people together,” said Milan Mladjenovic, general manager, L’Oréal Paris Canada, in a news statement.

“We are humbled and inspired by their contributions to dream, learn, and ultimately do more, for the betterment of our world.”

The Canadian Women of Worth Honourees are Kehkashan Basu for the Green Hope Foundation; Sara Champagne for the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation; Rabiah Dhaliwal for the One Blood for Life Foundation; Tanya Hayles for Black Moms Connection; Donna Hreys for Knitted Knockers Alberta; Gina Jones-Wilson for the Upper Hammonds Plains Community Development Association; Glori Meldrum for Little Warriors; Karen Sherbut for the Safe Haven Foundation of Canada; Dr. Laura Whyte for Covered By Hope House; and Bev Woods for Gift from the Heart. 

From now until March 4, Canadians can visit womenofworth.ca to vote to elect the 2020 National Honouree – who will be awarded an additional $10,000 grant towards her non-profit charity.
