The latest in a long line of high-profile guests to Trump Tower, French fashion executive Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, met with the President-elect this week to discuss the expansion of LVMH in the U.S.

Commenting on the success of LVMH’s established factories and the success of certain products manufactured in San Dimas, California, in the past 25 years, Arnault confirmed a potential American expansion and said that he is considering opening new factories in Carolina or Texas in the near future.

As part of the President-elect’s focus on the provision of manufacturing jobs in the US, Trump also hinted that the discussion centred on the creation of ‘a lot of jobs,’ suggesting that LVMH is ‘going to do some great things in this country.’

Trump added of Arnault, ‘One of the great men, you know that, right? And they all love this country, that’s important.’

Arnault was accompanied at Trump Tower by his son Alexandre, reportedly carrying a Rimowa suitcase. Alexandre Arnault was recently named co-manager of the Rimowa suitcase brand, of which LVMH acquired an 80% stake in October 2016.
