Lamarque opens first standalone store

Published

Canadian ready-to-wear brand Lamarque opened its first freestanding store this month.

The label, well-known for its staple leather designs, chose its hometown of Montreal to inaugurate its first boutique at 2000 Peel Street, located in the city’s downtown core.

The 600-square-foot boutique was created to fit the brand’s DNA and features a minimal design with clean lines. It was designed by HS2 Architecture, a New York-based Architecture firm, which has planned stores for brands such as Ralph Lauren and Acne.

In store, customers can shop both Lamarque’s men’s and women’s lines. The line created by womenswear designer Ifigenia Papadimitriou and menswear designer Yasuko Kaji, offers ready-to-wear and outerwear pieces including leather jackets, dresses, knits, tops, bottoms, bags and accessories, at price points that range from CDN $50 to CDN $650.

With its first foray into brick and mortar, the label’s goal is to expand its customer relationships. The label has plans to continue its expansion and rollout more store openings over the next few years, but when and where has not yet been revealed.

A number of Canadian brands have been eager to expand their retail footprint. Last fall, fellow Montreal-based brand Mackage expanded its Canadian footprint with the opening of two new retail boutiques and first-to-market stores in Ontario. Meanwhile, Montreal-based fashion brand and competitor m0851 has equally opened a number of new stores in the last year, bringing its store count to over 20 locations.

Lamarque can be found at retail locations worldwide, such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Harvey Nichols and various specialty boutiques. The brand was founded in 2013 and has been worn by the likes of Selena Gomez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, Kendall Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, and more.
