Lanvin focuses on shoes with The Surgeon collab and ballerina revisit

Lanvin has a big footwear focus this season, making the most of the popularity of ballerina shoes, of sneakers, heritage styles and also innovative collabs.

To start, it’s putting extra support behind its own Ballerina shoe that was a strong seller earlier this century and also adding new design twists.

The label said it has revisited the shoe, taking advantage of its link with French culture and everyday Parisian chic, with a new design that features ultra-flexible construction, elastic, and an integrated mini-wedge. A contrasting pull tab embossed with the house’s logo is set at the back of the shoe.

The new Ballerina comes in both matte and patent leather and will be added to later with new variations, adorned by a jewel or a bow.

The reborn shoe has been launched with a campaign shot by photographer Theo de Gueltz, whose “surreal and otherworldly eye invites the viewer to reimagine the familiar favourite with a new playfulness and sense of discovery”.

Meanwhile, on the collab front, the brand has linked up with pioneering artist Dominic Ciambrone, also known as The Surgeon, “to reimagine its iconic Curb sneaker for a limited edition release”.

The new version “combines traditional craftsmanship and embroidery with modern processes and cutting-edge techniques in homage to Lanvin’s couture heritage”.

The colour palette is inspired by Los Angeles and Paris, blending soft hues of blues, tans, and beige, reminiscent of the California coastline. A pop of pink adds a playful element. Remixing the house’s signature motifs and emblems with Ciambrone’s personal iconography, the design “showcases an extraordinary mélange of French heritage and authentic streetwear style”.
