Liars & Lovers, Timberland set sight on London's Carnaby Street

London’s popular Carnaby Street is experiencing a boom despite the widely reported challenges to physical retail in the UK, with two more brands announcing openings in the area.

Liars & Lovers and Timberland are set to open stores in the shopping destination this year, joining designer brand Raeburn and the recently opened RRL.

The signings confirm the strength of the Central London retail destination, which is very popular with tourists. Spending by overseas visitors to the UK is expected to rise from £23 billion in 2018 to almost £25 billion this year, according to Visit Britain, as tourists take advantage of the weaker pound.

Debut its first retail store, jewellery brand Liars & Lovers will open at 56b Carnaby Street in September. The 1,054 sq ft shop will feature a dedicated piercing studio and showcase the brand’s fashion-forward jewellery, accessories, hair accessories and exclusive premium jewellery ranges.

Timberland, the American brand led by Christopher Raeburn, its creative director, will open a new 4,488 sq ft flagship in November at 5-7 Carnaby Street.

And the British designer’s eponymous label Raeburn will also open in the area with a pop-up format. The sustainable brand will take up residence at 3 Newburgh Street end of August, housing its seasonal collections, collaboration and special items. The space will also be used as a creative studio for events and workshops.

Meanwhile, Ralph Lauren’s RRL label has launched its first standalone store in the UK at 6 Newburgh Street on 17 July.
