Lids opens second Lids Hat Drop store in Texas

Sports retailer Lids announced on Monday the opening of the second iteration of the Lids Hat Drop store in Houston, Texas. 

The opening follows the success of the LidsHatDrop.com e-commerce platform and the debut of the first brick-and-mortar Lids Hat Drop store in Jamaica, Queens, New York, both of which launched in 2022.

Located at the Houston Galleria and opening on April 14, the new 1,318-square-foot store leans into key trends with exclusive and limited availability of headwear products. 

At Lids Hat Drop stores, consumers have first access to purchase exclusive hat drops beginning each Friday, before the collection goes live on the ecommerce platform at 12:00 pm ET that same day. Hats will drop at the same time at both the Houston and New York locations, encouraging consumers to shop in-store.

Inside, customers will also find digital screens showcasing Lids’ own content including new hat drops, dedicated spaces for drops, and an area for apparel and merchandise, along with mannequins.  

“Houston has remained one of the most important key markets for Lids in the country because of its love for headwear, due in large part to its influential hip-hop culture,” the company said in a press release. 

Lids operates several store concepts throughout North America, Europe, and Australia. Most recently, it unveiled its collegiate product focused retail concept, Lids University (Lids U). It also operates Locker Room by Lids and team-specific stores such as Yankees Clubhouse and Dodgers Clubhouse, among others.
