Lucky Brand CEO departs to join Guess

A change of leadership at Guess has caused a ripple effect on Lucky Brand.
Lucky Brand announced on Monday that its Chairman & CEO Carlos Alberini is leaving the company to join Guess once again. Alberini will replace Victor Herrero as of Feb. 2. at the apparel company, where he was previously chief operating officer from 2000 to 2010.
Meanwhile, Guess also announced that its co-founder Paul Marciano, who resigned as chairman of the apparel company last year amid sexual-harassment allegations, will finally stay on as chief creative officer.
“I am very excited to have Carlos coming back as CEO at Guess, Inc. He was instrumental in building the international business in Europe and Asia during his 10-year tenure with the company,” said Maurice Marciano, who will be acting as interim Chief Executive Officer, during the transition.
As for Lucky Brand, the company has established an “Office of the CEO” in interim, comprised of three Lucky Brand senior executives: Nigel Kershaw, Chief Financial Officer; Mike Relich, Chief Operating Officer; and Lexi Tawes, Acting Chief Product Officer.
The team will manage the company's operations as the board works to establish permanent leadership.

I am also thrilled with the partnership and alignment of the exceptional executives in the Office of the CEO, and I am confident that they and the entire Lucky Brand team will successfully lead the Company as it continues to execute its strategy," said Michael Kirton, Principal, Leonard Green & Partners, L.P., the firm which acquired Lucky Brand in 2014.
The Los Angeles-based company was founded in 1990 and currently has over 250 locations in North America, 15 of which are located in Canada.
