Luxe ski brand Aztech Mountain expands collection to après-ski clothing

Aspen, CO-based luxury ski brand Aztech Mountain is expanding its collection with an off-mountain category of après-ski apparel.

The winter off-mountain collection includes graphic tees, sweaters, sweatshirts, sweatpants, woven shirts, pullover fleece, zip hoodies, jackets and parkas. The collection focuses on fit and performance fabrics, such as sweaters knit from water-repellent merino wool.

The brand explains its inspiration for the off-mountain apparel category comes from the Aspen lifestyle which is just as focused on après ski as it is on the slopes. Team Aztech says, "We may not be able to relive Aspen's past but we certainly use it to shape our future."

Aztech Mountain was founded in 2013 by David Roth and Heifara Rutgers. Rutgers said he and his business partner "had a crazy dream many years ago to create a performance outerwear brand that was made for discerning guys that work and live between places like Aspen and New York, who are gear, fitness and sports obsessed."

In 2016, the duo paired up with Olympic gold medalist and World Cup skiing champion Bode Miller who assumed the role of the company's Chief Innovation Officer. Miller was initially attracted to the technical fabrics and construction of the brand.

Miller was the face of the brand's fall campaign. He is expected to wear pieces from the off-mountain apparel collection at the Winter Olympics next month in PyeongChang.

Aztech Mountain is sold at Barneys in New York, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago. It is also sold at ski boutiques in Aspen, Vail, Park City, Vermont and at premium boutiques in Napa and Texas. It is distributed in Canada and globally in key markets in Asia and Europe.

Aztech Mountain sells online through Barneys, Mr. Porter, Farfetch and its own branded e-commerce site. Price points for its new off-mountain apparel collection range from $95 for a tee with a graphic from Brooklyn artist John Miserendino to the almost $1,900 waterproof wool and goose down-filled jacket that sparked Miller's interest in the brand.
