Luxury fashion industry alum Caroline Brown joins Closed Loop Partners

New York-based investment firm Closed Loop Partners (CLP) has announced that Caroline Brown will join the company as a managing director, effective April 22, 2019.

CLP is comprised of a private equity, venture capital and credit fund as well as an advisory services business focused on businesses that help grow the circular economy. In her new role, Brown will drive the industry practice for fashion and beauty across all investment platforms for the firm.

Prior to CLP, Brown served in chief executive officer roles for Donna Karan and DKNY at LVMH, Carolina Herrera and Akris, Inc, and has held senior management roles in marketing and communications for Giorgio Armani.

Since 2017, Brown has served as an advisor for the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and currently serves as a member of the Women’s Forum of New York. She also acts on the advisory boards for skincare start-up Atolla and Fashionkind, an early stage e-commerce site for ethically sourced and sustainably made luxury products. In the past, Brown served as a member of the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund business advisory committee and as a mentor to emerging U.S. designers.

"[Brown's] experience and industry leadership will be invaluable as CLP expands its strategy into the fashion and beauty category," said Ron Gonen, chief executive officer of CLP.

“We see tremendous disruption and opportunity in the fashion industry as it recognizes the opportunity to develop circular business models and become more sustainable."

According to a press release, Brown will work to continue the firm's progress within the fashion and apparel industry, and build greater awareness of the firm’s impact amongst industry leaders within the category.

To date, some of CLP's portfolio companies within the fashion sector include apparel company For Days, jewelry company Linhaus, textile technology company Evrnu, and circular apparel and textile solutions company The Renewal Workshop.
