Luxury retail exec joins Bob Marley cannabis brand

Luxury retail executive Clement Kwan has joined Marley Naturals, the official cannabis brand of legend Bob Marley.

Marley Naturals intends to expand distribution across the US and globally. Kwan brings his experience in distribution and joins as the Chief Operating Officer.

Kwan comes from Yoox Corporation, the US division of Yoox Net-a-Porter’s online platform. He has worked at Dolce & Gabbana, rolling out an aggressive global D&G campaign, as well as at Theory and Diesel USA.

“It is an honor to work with the Marley family to build a global brand that will help the world appreciate the herb the way Bob Marley did,” Kwan said. “Bob Marley is a global icon and I am thrilled to be leading a team that understands and respects his legacy of positivity and peaceful social change.”

Marley Naturals launched on what would’ve been the reggae legend’s 71st birthday, February 6, 2016. The inaugural line of includes locally farmed cannabis oil, body care products, and smoking accessories made of materials such as sustainably-sourced American black walnut and hand-blown glass.

The brand launched in brick and mortar locations through marijuana dispensaries in Southern California. It will further expand across California and into dispensaries in Colorado, Oregon and Washington this year, and is available online through the Marley Naturals shop. Plans also include entering select retailers in LA and NY.

Kwan’s immediate goals are a successful US campaign in 2016, followed by global expansion in 2017. Marley Naturals's debut last month already met acclaim in Vogue, Rolling Stone and Wired. With Kwan’s expertise, it bodes well for a global rollout next year.
