MAC Cosmetics announced on Thursday the launch of its collaboration collection with Taiwanese designer, Chris Chang. The collection launches on April 15 in Shanghai during Shanghai Fashion Week.
The Chris Chang x MAC collection is comprised of five lipsticks, eyeliner, four shades of eye shadow, three cream color bases and pressed powder in bright colors like turquoise, lemon yellow, plum, neon orange and pastel pink. The collection is presented in very vibrant, electric blue packaging featuring a kaleidoscope of flowers, fish and butterflies, that is as whimsical as Chang’s own label, Poesia by Chris Chang.
Chris Chang launched her women’s ready-to-wear label, Poesia by Chris Chang, in 2009 after successfully launching Poesia couture for children that sold at Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus and 15 other boutiques in North America. Three years after launching the women’s line, MAC got in touch with Chang to collaborate on a collection.
“My inspiration comes from the traditional aesthetics [and]...costumes from various countries, as well as the transformative world of art," Chang said in a statement. "Color is the integral fuel of my imagination and the spirit MAC and I share. This collaboration is a dream come true for the maximalists of the world.”
The Chris Chang x MAC collection launches in Shanghai on April 15, in North America on May 12, and at international stores in June. Prices range from $17 to $29.50.
