Maison Ullens names Haider Ackermann its creative consultant

Maison Ullens, the luxury cashmere marque, has named the acclaimed fashion designer Haider Ackermann to be its creative consultant, overseeing the key creative decisions at the brand.

The appointment, which is a major coup for Maison Ullens, is effective immediately.

“In this role, he will oversee the design of the collection and image for the House. The appointment marks a turning point in the 10 year history of the House and an exceptional development,” the brand said in a release.

Ackermann’s first collection for Maison Ullens will be available in its boutiques and on its e-commerce website for the Fall-Winter 2021 season.

The nomination is something of a surprise as Ackermann is one of the most highly rated fashion visionaries in the industry, whose previous position designing for a fashion brand was as creative director of Berluti for 18 months, in between Alessandro Sartori and Kris Van Assche.

Of French-Colombian origin, Ackermann created his own house in 2001, and has long been tipped for greatness. At one stage, after Karl Lagerfeld suggested that Haider might one day succeed him at Chanel, Ackermann was inundated with offers to helm runway major houses. However, though his career has been something of a conundrum, his talent has never been in question.

Maison Ullens is a Belgian luxury ready-to-wear brand founded in 2009, and created by Myriam Ullens, a wealthy entrepreneur and philanthropist.

From its earliest days, the brand has concentrated on creating a posh yet casual style targeted at well-heeled travelers, offering a complete wardrobe for a refined and demanding customer looking for exclusivity and know-how.

The arrival of Ackermann will garner the marque massive attention.
