Maje launches ‘Seconde Main’ resale service

Maje, the French premium ready-to-wear label founded in 1998 by Judith Milgrom, is launching in the second-hand fashion market. On Wednesday October 26, the label owned by the SMCP group (alongside Sandro, Claudie Pierlot and Fursac) announced the roll-out of its new resale service, simply called ‘Seconde Main’ (French for ‘second-hand’).

With Seconde Main, Maje is making its first foray in the circular economy - Maje

The affordable luxury label is giving its community the opportunity of selling pre-owned items, receiving in exchange shopping vouchers redeemable in-store or on Maje's dedicated second-hand fashion site. Items from previous collections will be authenticated and verified by Maje, and shipped to new customers using sustainable packaging.

Maje is following in the footsteps of Sandro - the SMCP group’s flagship label - as the group's second brand to introduce a resale service for private customers’ pre-owned clothes. Maje, currently distributed in 40 countries and growing at an energetic pace, indicated that it wants to shift towards a more circular approach, but also to attract a younger, more eco-friendly clientèle with its resale service.

“Seconde Main has been created to enable people to experience fashion differently,” said Milgrom, Maje’s founder and creative director. “We encourage our community to be creative in its vision of style by mixing pieces that have different histories, in the spirit of doing something positive for the environment,” she added.

To accompany the launch, Maje has produced and filmed a series of interviews with young fans of sustainable fashion, highlighting their advice on social media on how to become more responsible consumers.
