Marie France Van Damme opens new store in Miami's Bal Harbour Shops

While many brands and retailers have announced that they are shutting their doors in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak, some members of the industry are still choosing to hold new openings. Among those are Hong Kong-based designer Marie France Van Damme, who opened a new store this week in Miami at Bal Harbour Shops. 

Located on the second floor of Bal Harbour Shops at 9700 Collins Avenue, the 800-square-foot store will offer a range of Marie France Van Damme luxury resort wear, including day dresses and evening wear, resort wear, bathing suits and caftans. 

Inside, the store features a clean and simple decor, with elements of teak wood, bronze panels and embossed crocodile leathers, as well as textiles and finishes that can be found in the designer's home and at her line's flagship in Hong Kong. 

Van Damme opened her first Florida store at Bal Harbour Shops in January 2018 as a temporary pop-up shop, which ran through July 2019. The brand then entered into a long-term lease agreement with Bal Harbour Shops that led to the re-opening of its new unit this month. 

“Miami is a vibrant fashion capital," Van Damme said. "Like me, our customer travels around the world, and she needs to find things that will look beautiful during the day as well as at night; from the beach to a cocktail or dinner in the evening. It has always been a dream of mine to open a store at Bal Harbour Shops, and after extending our pop-up shop there as a result of a successful year, we are honored to create a  permanent home for our clients in one of the world’s most exclusive luxury shopping destinations.”

Marie France Van Damme currently operates a total of eleven stores around the world, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Marrakech, Los Angeles, Miami, Dubai and Las Vegas, among others. Her line is additionally sold at Bergdorf Goodman, Harrods, Neiman Marcus, Net-a-Porter and Moda Operandi, and resorts like Amanresorts and the One & Only.
