Market Market: James Morelos' new project opens in Palm Springs
A few days ago in Palm Springs, the latest concept created by James Morelos, opened at 1555 South Palm Canyon Drive. Dubbed 'Market Market', the new venture is a market concept previously tested at Row DTLA in Los Angeles.
The 4,000-square-foot space is dedicated to vintage and recycled items, including fashion, accessories, furniture and design.
"We're committed to reducing disposable living. So many beautiful things already exist in the world that we can give new life," according to the new marketplace.
Dedicating a large part of its selection to fashion, Market Market has called on several designers to animate its space, such as Rene Tadeo Holguin, founder of the RTH brand, who has already been distributed in the Mojave Flea store in Yucca Valley, and the collector Trina Turk.
The store also features the creations of Maurizio Donaldi, a former collaborator of Levi's, Giorgio Armani and Polo Ralph Lauren, now head of the Transnomadica platform, and the denim and casual wardrobe of Daniel Bean, founder of the Best Regards concept in Downtown LA.
The store also features the collections of new emerging brands born from recycling and upcycling such as Holland Brand and its designer, Christopher Holland Brandt; the vintage selection of Bunny and Wolf represented by the duo Irena Segarich-Delouz and Jon Delouz; and the amazing ready-to-wear collections of Picnicwear made from towels.
After a few years in Seattle and New York, the Angeleno James Morelos is now at the head of three Mojave Flea boutiques; the first one installed in Palm Springs in 2021 shortly after the pandemic, the second one in Yucca Valley, and the third one in Fog City Flea at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. In addition to the boutiques, experiential markets are taking place everywhere from Joshua Tree to the Catskills, Nashville and San Francisco.
Other shops are to come, notably in Berkeley and in the Hudson Valley, in the State of New York.
