Marshalls moving forward with Canadian expansion

Off-price retailer Marshalls is moving forward with its Canadian expansion plans announcing on Tuesday the opening of its second superstore in Quebec at the recently inaugurated Avenue Mode of Les Avenues Vaudreuil shopping centre.

Setting up shop adjacent to the existing HomeSense, the new superstore will span 38,290 square feet and will open early this fall.

A member of the TJX Canada group, along with sister stores Winners and HomeSense, Marshalls first entered the Canadian market in 2011. Marshalls now operates over 50 stores across Canada, a number of which opened just last year, including 9 Marshalls and 2 Marshalls superstores in Quebec. The company plans to almost double the number of Marshalls stores it currently operates in Canada, over the coming years.

Among its three banners, TJX Canada operates over 400 stores across the country.

“We are excited to launch Marshalls at Les Avenues Vaudreuil,” says Susie Nick, Marshalls Canada spokesperson, in a news statement. “We know that our customers are smart shoppers who seek stylish merchandise and we’re excited to provide them with incredible deals on high-quality, in-season, designer pieces.”

Canadian real estate developer Harden announced plans in November for the creation of Les Avenues Vaudreuil in the city of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec.
