Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's The Row dives into fragrance

The Row, the luxury brand led by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, has expanded into fragrances with the launch of its first scent collection, in the form of three hand-blended oils created in collaboration with L’Oeil du Vert’s Haley Alexander van Oosten.

The oils are all anchored in sandalwood and are each named with a letter: R, O, and W. R combines its sandalwood base with tobacco leaves, esfand seeds, and rose, while O brings in notes of blue water lily, olibanum, and orris. W features amber, champa and incense woods. Available at The Row stores, the oils will be priced between $490 and $550.
 
The Olsen sisters were consumers of Oosten’s scent oils before they decided to collaborate with the artisan perfumer on fragrances for their own brand.

“We met Haley through her company, L’Oeil du Vert,” said Ashley Olsen in comments made to The Wall Street Jorunal. “We started wearing her oils, and the idea of creating something together was a natural progression of our relationship.”
 
Founded in 2005, L’Oeil du Vert specializes in fragrance oils and operates out of Oosten’s studio in Malibu, where the perfumer hand distils oils and mixes them with a range of raw materials, a number of which are locally sourced.
 
“From the start we agreed we wanted to layer another texture, another feeling to the experience of The Row,” explained Oosten of her collaborative collection with the Olsens, which has been four years in the making.
 
The Row, which was founded by the Olsen twins in 2006, has won five CFDA Awards since 2012, two in the womenswear category and three in accessories. Known for its minimalist stylings, sharp tailoring and high-quality fabrics, the brand has garnered a dedicated fanbase around the world.

The label launched its first childrenswear collection earlier this year, having already expanded into menswear in 2018.
