Menswear website Four Pins to shut down in 2016

Menswear continues to become a major focus in the fashion industry by reaching $440 billion in sales in 2014 and with officially having its own fashion week at the four major fashion cities. Despite its immense growth in less than a decade, websites and publications that cover menswear exclusively are shutting down with the latest casualty being Four Pins.

Four Pins

Four Pins is the menswear blog owned by Complex that is known for its satirical articles and its vast men’s fashion knowledge that bridges the gap between streetwear to tailoring. News of the website shutting down emerged late last week when the New York Times ran a profile on the Isaia store in New York City. Within the article, author Jon Caramanica wrote, “Four Pins is shutting down operations in early 2016, the end of an era.”

Though the website avoided confirming the news with its signature wit, Complex Editor-in-Chief, Noah Callahan-Bever confirmed the news via social media as well as photographer George Elder who shoots street style for the website. Four Pins will remain on Twitter however, but without a website.

Four Pins Editor-in-Chief Lawrence Schlossman parted ways with the website prior to this announcement.

Details Magazine also confirmed this year that it is shutting down after news emerged from the Wall Street Journal.
