Michael Kors on Wednesday annouced the appointment of Hanjoon (Michael) Kim as its President of Korea, a new position created by the company.

Kim will focus on building the infrastructure for the region and will develop an expansion strategy for South Korea to position the business for long-term growth. He will report to Michael Kors’ President of Asia, Stephane Lafay.

"We believe that Korea represents a tremendous opportunity for Michael Kors," said John D. Idol, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Michael Kors. "Michael’s appointment is an important step in building the brand’s success in the Korean market."

Kim, who has extensive experience in the luxury market, most recently held the Representative Director position at Ferragamo Korea. Prior to Ferragamo, he was the Chief Commercial Officer/Managing Director at MCM, following 12 years at Burberry Korea where the last title he held was Representative Director and Vice President.
