Montreal's Fashion & Design Festival unveils 2018 program

Groupe Sensation Mode announced the official programming for the 18th annual Fashion & Design Festival (FMD) on Monday.
Set to take place in Montreal August 20 to the 25, the annual six-day festival is a celebration of creativity in downtown Montreal that includes fashion shows, multidisciplinary performances, live creative sessions, concerts and more.
Once again this year, the downtown scene in Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles will be transformed into a runway, which will feature a mix of emerging and established designers from across Quebec and Canada.
Kicking off the event on August 20 is FMD’s conference series baptized “FMD Talks”. The series will include national and international fashion and design influencers including Herschel Segal, the founder of Le Château, as well as the likes of Robert Lepage, Caroline Issa, Marie Saint-Pierre, and more.
Meanwhile, the runway will welcome fashion shows from August 22 to the 25. Over 20 fashion shows will take place including from Montreal designers like Arti Gogna and Ève Gravel, as well as from major brands like La Vie en Rose, Ardène, Dynamite and more.
Other special runway presentations that are sure to be a hit include an eco-conscious fashion show organized by Ethik Éco-design Hub taking place August 23 at 6:30 pm, and a look at the best of local men’s fashion in a show organized by Ton Barbier on August 25 at 9:30 pm.
Throughout the festival, over 40 pop-up boutiques and Fashion Trucks will be on-site for event goers to shop as well.
As opposed to having a spokesperson this year, the festival has named several personalities to form the “FMD18 Brigade” who are all a part of different cultural spheres. They include Lolitta Dandoy, Stéphane Le Duc, Cherry Lena and Alexandra « Spicey » Landé.
The Fashion & Design Festival is organized by Groupe Sensation Mode. It is the biggest outdoor happening of its kind in North America. More than 550,000 festivalgoers are expected this year.
